Rehearsals
In 2026, the first rehearsal will start at 5pm with an orientation.
For other rehearsals, ensure you arrive early enough so you are ready to play at 6pm.
At the end of the rehearsal, please help with packing up such as putting away chairs, music stands, and percussion instruments. Pack-up instructions will also be shown on the Notion page.
Absences
Please notify us of your absence via the Notion page (link sent to you in the Audition Success email). This allows the conductor and your section members to see who will be absent. The rehearsal dates are shown on the Notion page so you can plan ahead to prevent any absences.
Subscription fee
Our current annual subscription fee is $150. This is good value for money as it works out to be less than $3 per hour for the orchestral rehearsals each week, plus sectionals with a specialist tutor.
For families with more than one child, siblings of the first child are charged at $112.50 each.

Financial Hardship
We do not wish financial hardship to be a barrier to joining the orchestra. If this applies to you please contact the treasurer at treasurer@dyo.org.nz (who will treat this with the utmost confidence).
Your obligations as an orchestra member
- Commit to being present at ALL rehearsals and sectionals.
- Notify an unavoidable absence as early as possible on the Notion page.
- Pay your subscription fee.
