Each year, we have a number of volunteer opportunities available. Currently available roles are shown below and we would love your help!
Click on the button at the bottom of the page to volunteer. Email us at info@dyo.org.nz if you’d like to know more about any of the roles.
A unique poster is designed for each concert showing our supporters logos. We print a number of the posters in various sizes for distribution. The poster is also used for the website, emails, and social media posts.
A programme is to be written that contains the bios of the conductor(s), soloist(s), info about the pieces that will be performed, and the orchestra members that participated in the concert.
Each week, one parent buys/makes the supper for the orchestra that will be served during the 10-minute rehearsal break.
A lot of gear needs to be transported from Hanover Hall to the performance venue. For example, music stands, chairs, percussion instruments. We usually hire a truck and need 5-6 volunteers on the day before the concert and the day of the concert.
Gifts such as flowers, pot plants, chocolates etc are organised for gifting at the concert to conductor(s), soloist(s).
Each year, we apply for grants to support our operating costs such as paying for conductors, sectional tutors, rehearsal venue, poster printing, and professional photography.
Yes, this sounds like a big job, but there are only two periods of intensive work where you have to fill out an application form and upload documents, followed by completing the accountability form and uploading more documents.
We are here to provide full support if you would like to help out with this VERY important task!
